Astra Foods promotes awareness initiatives and reinforces its commitment to inclusion
Meetings held with employees and the Cruzeiro do Oeste community highlighted the importance of opportunities, respect, and valuing people with disabilities
Talking about inclusion also means talking about opportunities. At Astra Foods, this discussion took place at two different moments, held in August and September, bringing reflections on autism, disability, work, autonomy, and belonging.
The initiatives were part of awareness actions related to the National Week for People with Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities and reinforced a commitment that goes beyond the corporate environment: contributing to a society in which every person can be recognized for their abilities and have opportunities to build their own path.
A conversation about autism at Astra Foods
On August 19, Astra Foods employees took part in a conversation about autism, held in the company's break area.
The meeting brought the topic into the workplace context and presented stories of people with autism who found in work much more than an occupation.
These are stories marked by achievements in autonomy, development, dignity, and belonging. They show, in practice, how access to opportunities can expand possibilities and allow people with disabilities to take on new roles in society.
The conversation also reinforced the importance of seeing the person beyond the diagnosis. Autism is one characteristic, but it does not define someone's story, abilities, or the full potential they can develop.
“Disability does not define. Opportunity transforms.”
On September 1, the discussion reached the community of Cruzeiro do Oeste.
Astra Foods' DHO Supervisor, Letícia Cortez, gave the lecture “Disability does not define. Opportunity transforms,” at the invitation of APAE – Irmã Ana Tomczak School.
Held at the Alexandre Gustavo Dobruski Paleontology Museum, the event brought together representatives from local institutions, students, families, and community members for a discussion about inclusion and opportunities for people with disabilities in the job market.
During the lecture, Letícia emphasized that a truly inclusive company needs to go beyond complying with legal requirements. It is necessary to create conditions for each professional to contribute, develop, grow, and build their own career path.
Inclusion also means creating opportunities
Although held in different contexts, both moments shared the same message: a disability or diagnosis does not define a person.
Inclusion happens when real opportunities exist, when abilities are recognized, and when people find space to participate, contribute, and develop.
For Astra Foods, initiatives like these help broaden the dialogue and strengthen a culture based on respect, valuing people, and creating opportunities for everyone.
Because when an opportunity is truly given, it can transform a professional journey, create a sense of belonging, and transform the environment around it.
